Grid Connection Navigator

The grid connection is the critical path of every BESS project. The Grid Connection Navigator structures your project: from power, location and project type it derives the likely voltage level, identifies the responsible grid operator type (distribution or transmission) and shows which documents the grid connection request must contain.

You receive a phase overview with realistic timelines — from pre-check through the formal request and grid study to the connection offer — and an assessment of whether your target COD fits the typical connection process.

How it works

  1. 01

Enter location and project frame: country/region, project type, target COD.

  2. 02

Provide technical parameters: discharge and charge power, capacity, known grid parameters.

  3. 03

Get the assessment: voltage level, operator type, document checklist, phases with timelines.

Methodology and scope

The voltage-level heuristic follows German practice: up to ~10 MW medium voltage (10–30 kV, distribution system operator), utility-scale up to ~100 MW typically 110 kV, above that extra-high voltage (220/380 kV, transmission system operator). Timelines (3–9 months MV, 9–18 months 110 kV, 12–24+ months EHV) are indicative market values — queues and responsibilities vary regionally.
