Which substations should you check first?

Every substation from 110 kV (France from 63 kV) gets a screening priority from A to F — from public data on grid, competition and generation. Enquire at the right sites first.

The grade is a screening priority, not a statement on free grid capacity — only the grid operator can confirm that. Environmental and protected areas are not yet scored.

How the grade is built

Grid level · 25%

110 kV with transformation to medium voltage 100 · 220/380 kV 85 · 110–150 kV only 70. France: 63/90 kV postes sources 90 (with HTA 100). Railway, power plant and industrial substations are excluded.

Competition · 25%

Storage operating and planned within 10 km: none → 100, up to 20 MW → 80, up to 100 MW → 55, up to 300 MW → 30, more → 10. France: 60% storage nearby + 40% storage in the Enedis queue of the département (≤ 10 MW → 100 … over 90 MW → 15). Italy: not scored (storage barely mapped), weight redistributed.

Generation · 20%

Wind and solar within 15 km: from 500 MW → 100 … below 10 MW → 15. Germany: OSM + MaStR PV; France: official register (RTE/ODRÉ); Italy: number of plants (30+ → 100 … below 2 → 15) because OSM rarely has capacities.

PV retrofit · 15%

PV plants without storage within 10 km (Germany: MaStR, France: register): from 100 MW → 100 … none → 10. Austria/Italy not scored; weights are redistributed.

Brownfield · 15%

Former or large conventional power plant site: up to 3 km → 100, up to 10 km → 50, otherwise 10. Grid connection and land are often available there. France additionally: industrial, commercial, rail, logistics or military brownfield from the official Cartofriches inventory (from 0.5 ha, no reuse project): up to 1 km → 100, up to 3 km → 60 — the higher value counts.
